How do I Join?

First, we recommend you visit one of our meetings.  You may also want to attend meetings in other area clubs.

You may want to attend a few meetings before you formally join. 

You can download the official application form (You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader).  Completed applications are then given to our Treasurer (Layla Garcia).

New Member Fee = $20
Bi-Annual Dues = $38 (prorated at $6.50/month depending on when you join)

Dues are "due" before April and October every year

The biggest investment you will make is your time and effort in preparing your speeches.  This will require enthusiasm and great attitude.  You will get what you put into it!

Now that I am a Member....

As a new member, you will receive a manual outlining the first ten speeches that would qualify you to be a Competent Communicator (CC - used to be CTM).  The ten speeches cover the basics:

#1    Icebreaker: This is your opportunity to introduce yourself to the club

#2    Speak with Sincerity: Discuss a subject of general interest about which you have strong convictions

#3    Organize your Speech: Better preparing your speech by organizing your ideas and following an outline

#4    Show What You Mean: The use of body language to illustrate and emphasize your points

#5    Vocal Variety: Developing vocal varieties to resonate and enhance your speaking skills

#6    Work With Words: Choosing the right words to better connect with your audience

#7    Apply Your Skills: Using all the previous skills you learned to provide a well-organized speech

#8    Add Impact to your Speech: The effective use of visual aids to enhance your speech

#9    Persuade with Power: Get people to understand, accept, and act upon your ideas

#10   Inspire Your Audience: The last speech for CC! Challenge people to embrace noble motives!

Your fellow members will be coaching and guiding you every step of the way.  You will be formally evaluated after every speech by a selected member.  The audience will also provide feedback through concise notes submitted to you.  

Imagine, ten to twenty people working together to help you with your speaking skills! 

As a participating member, you are also encouraged to attend the meetings, participate, and provide support to your fellow members.
